Having struggled in recent seasons to field a third team due to lack of players, last season the club was was able to get the third XV back up and running and playing regularly under the captaincy of long time Pethy player Cameron Kirk. The Thirds are traditionally a side for veterans, social players, people new to the game, and young players stepping up to senior rugby.

Last season was highly enjoyable for those players involved, with a mixed bag of results that often reflected the number of players Cameron was able to coax out of retirement the week before each game. There were also several younger players, most of whom had never played rugby before, who regularly played and progressed well over the season. Cameron is always looking to get together on a regular basis all veteran aged and retired players, as well as anyone who just wants a run-out on a Saturday afternoon, with the emphasis on enjoyment rather than results. At the moment there are only several fixtures arranged, but the club will add matches during the season with the aim of playing two third team fixtures each month.
