In a match that was played mainly amongst the forwards with the heavy Minehead pack pushing back Pethy's hard working front eight the game ended in a draw as neither team could build any continuity. Petherton made some strong runs but by ignoring the supporting player or being forced into making mistakes, the attacking positions were wasted.
Minehead scored first through a catch and drive which Pethy defended well for a short while but using their extra weight and organisation the Barbarians forced their way over.
Gavin Wolfe, Prowse, and Pither made their typical strong runs and from one of these after a pinpoint kick by Freeman, a catch by Pither and a slick pass enabled Wolfe to slot the ball down, Sutherland - Earl slotted the extras.
The second half was mainly played in midfield with both teams having the opportunity to score but missed chances were the order of the day. Petherton's scrum became more effective which enabled the backs to execute a move perfectly all the way down the line for right-winger Kirkpatrick to score by the flag. Minehead came back immediately and with 5 minutes remaining scored under the posts, which was converted to end the afternoons scoring.
