Report from the Bridgwater Mercury (sport@bridgwatermercury.co.uk)
North Petherton Seconds scored 47 unanswered points in the second half to register a convincing victory over their Burnham counterparts on Saturday.
Depleted by the wedding of player Archie Walford, Petherton played the entire match with 14 men, including some guest players from Spaxton RFC, against a full-strength Burnham line-up, although the hosts were unfortunate to lose their scrum-half just before half-time with a broken ankle.
After an even first-half, it was 10-10 at the interval. After that, with experienced fly-half Simon Freeman pulling the strings, Petherton ran riot, scoring seven tries as they wore Burnham down.
Skipper and No 8 Mike Chillingworth led the way with three tries, while second row Mike Coles scored two. The others came from Brian Stenson, Roger Stewart, and two from Spaxton flankers Ernie and Matt. Freeman kicked six conversions.
