Stotherts would like to express their thanks to North Petherton, Old Edwardians and all those present at Corston on Saturday for the respect shown during the minutes silence for Dave Roberts who sadly passed away last week.
Dave was a much loved and very popular character and will be greatly missed by all his many friends at Stotherts.
This was another game that went right to the wire and kept all who watched enthralled to the very end.
North Petherton started brightly and took the lead with a well worked try from No8 Ben Tarr which Tom Williams converted but Stotherts came back strongly and reduced the arrears with a Dan Smith penalty.
Both teams defences then proved hard to breach with neither team able to carve out any clear cut chances despite their best efforts but Williams regained the visitors 7 point advantage with a penalty just before the interval.
The second half proved just as close as Williams kicked another penalty before Jason Hunt touched down for Stotherts from a rolling maul.
Williams and Smith then swapped penalties and the game looked to be going Pethertons way until the last few moments when Carl Taylor kicked through for Jon Squire to score and level the game up at 16 points apiece.
With the referee announcing just one minute left, Stotherts ran the ball from deep and Justin Carter made the line break, drew the cover and passed to the supporting Squire who sprinted away to score to hand Stotherts the victory in a dramatic finish.
