Having re-read the season’s match reports to compile the figures below the main theme running through them, other than some excellent play from our young players, seems to have been me being slightly the worse for wear on Sunday mornings. Today, the last Sunday of a season lasting almost nine months was no exception. This was mainly due to spending much of the previous day at the annual North Petherton Sevens Tournament where I treated myself to a couple of schooners of sherry over my normal allowance!
Having finished the season a couple of weeks ago at the Cheddar Festival, the prize-giving was an opportunity for parents and players alike to get together and allowed some of our younger members to indulge in their favourite Sunday habit – eating hotdogs !!!
For the combined Under 7s & 8s team there were six trophies on offer. The well deserved winners were as follows;
Highest Try Scorer:
Sam Cobb
Captain's Cup:
Archie Attwood
Coaches' Player:
Oscar Hallett
Most Improved:
Nick Payne
Most Committed:
Ben Jackson
Players' / Spectators' Player:
Oliver Halliday

Overall it was a good season.

A number of thanks must go out to various people.
To Roger Halliday, Lee Jackson & Ian Small for some excellent coaching and for bringing the team on in leaps and bounds this season.
To Rich Hallett for all the hard work he has put in organising things behind the scenes.
To all the parents who take the trouble to bring their children to rugby every Sunday morning in the often grimmest of weathers and travel to such far flung places as Chew Valley, Nailsea and Minehead.
To Moira, Tracy, Nick and everyone else who works behind the scenes on a Sunday cooking sausages, marking the pitch and generally helping out.
To the other clubs we have played this season who, with the odd exception, have been friendly and a joy to play against.

Finally to all the friends, grandparents and so on who take the trouble to sit down and read about our achievements.
Next year to make things more interesting I will be writing each match report throughout the season in the style of a famous author starting with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle at home on 3rd October against Cheddar!
