Struggling Somerton comfortably beaten

North Petherton were grateful that league strugglers Somerton were able to field a side for their annual player's reunion match on Saturday. They have already been unable to do so for five of their league fixtures so far this season, and they began the match with no substitutes and an inexperienced front-row, which eventually led to uncontested scrums in the second half. Perhaps unsurprisingly they were comfortably beaten by a Petherton side who are on a good run of form at the moment, and who played well below their recent high standards in a one-sided match. Elsewhere in Somerset One, Winscombe secured their promotion back to the Somerset Premier division after they were awarded a walkover victory by second from bottom Martock. Old Sulians require only one more victory to join the league leaders in the Premier next season after they won their local derby at home against Old Culverhaysians. Pethy's next opponents Wiveliscombe gained a good victory away at Imperial, whilst Burnham won a closely fought match at Bristol Barbarians with just one score. The Second team's match against Minehead Thirds was thought to have been postponed by Petherton, but at the moment has been credited as a walkover victory to Minehead. No one yet knows if this match will be played at a later date or whether it has been definitely forfeited.

Crewkerne Seconds also appear to have benefited from a walkover victory for once this season as Weston Hornets Thirds could not field a side. Unsurprisingly, Bridgwater Athletic and Wells Seconds continued to dominate at the top with comfortable victories over Burnham Seconds and Taunton Thirds respectively.
