This will be the third season that the Somerset Vase has been contested after the Somerset Cup was split up in 2005. The top 16 ranked sides in Somerset still compete for the Somerset Cup, whilst the remaining sides ranked lower than the top 16 play for the Vase. Petherton have had a poor record in the Vase competition so far, going out in the first round against Minehead in 2005/06, and losing in the second round to St. Bernadettes in 2006/07.
