Match abandoned after player injury
North Petherton's match at home against Bristol Barbarians ended in somewhat farcical circumstances after Petherton winger Luke Carrow had trapped a nerve in his neck on the stroke of half-time. Whilst Luke has recovered well since Saturday, the half-time break had lasted 25 minutes whilst an ambulance was called to take him to hospital. After he was taken from the pitch and the second-half was due to begin, some of the Barbarians players and their Coach no longer wanted to continue because work commitments meant that two of their players had to be back in Bristol by 6 o'clock. Even though the time was only ten past four, the referee called off the game with Petherton leading 17-8. It has since been decided by league officials that the match will be replayed, although the date is yet to be confirmed.
Despite this, North Petherton remain in third place in Somerset One after Broad Plain suffered their first defeat of the season at Wiveliscombe. Pethy's next two league matches are against the joint league leaders Old Sulians and Winscombe, who maintained their 100% records with away wins at Imperial and Burnham respectively.

Petherton's Seconds were heavily beaten at home by league leaders Bridgwater Athletic in a typically feisty derby encounter. Petherton's older side had little answer to the pace and power of their local rivals as they went down by 60 points. The match report can be read here.
Wells Seconds also maintained their winning start to the season at home to Castle Cary, and are second in the league on points difference. Petherton Seconds have now slipped to ninth in the table after their third defeat in a row. They will be hoping to get back to winning ways next weekend when they visit Castle Cary.
