Winscombe prevail in error-strewn match

North Petherton's promotion ambitions suffered a setback this weekend after a narrow defeat against unbeaten Winscombe at home. In a hard-fought but ultimately disappointing match, both sides made too many mistakes in what were excellent playing conditions. The Winscombe defence proved to be the difference in the end as Petherton tried hard but were unable to find a winning score in a pointless second half. Read the match report here.

North Petherton have now dropped down to fifth place in the league after Wiveliscombe improved their points difference with a big win over Martock. Old Sulians maintained their lead over Winscombe at the top of the table with victory against Bristol Barbarians. Something will have to give next weekend when the top two face each other. Old Culverhaysians also posted a big result, putting 90 points past bottom side Somerton.
