TRAINING & IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR COACHES - Under 7s, 8s & 9s
Following the RFU's Pilot of 'Shaping the Game', Somerset RFU are looking to adopt the NEW GUIDELINES from the RFU for the U7's-U9's Age Groups, which involves some significant differences from this year. The changes have proved to be highly successful within three Counties in the 2011/12 season during the pilot, which is supported with academic research from Exeter University.
These changes will be formally introduced in the 2013/14 season, but Counties have the option to adopt them a year earlier in 2012/13 to ensure there is a transition period. Somerset RFU are exploring this preferred option.
To support clubs and coaches, there will be some specific training for all Somerset Clubs on May 24th at North Petherton RFC, 7pm-9pm for next year's U7's - U9's club coaches & managers.

This season we are offering the opportunity for sponsorship of the Mini and Junior teams, the new shirts will match the seniors design, the space below the number on the reverse of the shirt is available for sponsors and there is room for several sponsors within reason. NPRFC Under 9s - Somerset Cup Runners Up
North Petherton Under 9s lost out to Chew Valley in this year's Somerset Cup, their first defeat in two seasons and over 80 games.

NPRFC Under 9s Win The Ivel Tournament
North Petherton Under 9s took part in the Ivel Tournament on Sunday 15th January. Ten teams took part and North Petherton won all their group games to put them into the semi finals.
Another good win against Dorchester saw the lads through to the final against Wellington. It was a great game once Ben had found his gum shield and they went on to win 2 - 1.
That's two tournaments in a row, so keep up the hard work. A big thanks goes to all the parents for their support.

SOMERSET CUP - Under 15s
North Petherton Under 15s will be hosting Coombe Down Under 15s in the Somerset Cup. Kick Off is at 12:00. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Childrens University Program
North Petherton Rugby Club (Minis and Juniors) have signed up to take part in the Childens University Program for Somerset schools. For every hour of activity the children do with North Petherton Rugby Club (or other providers) they will receive a stamp in their passport book. At the end of the year the passports are collected and the children are awarded, a bronze, silver or gold medal depending on the number of hours they have completed in out of school activities.
If any child aged between 5 and 14 years in a Somerset School has a passport Richard Hallett will be able to validate the hours that they have spent at the club by stamping their passports. Please give your completed passports to Richard at the end of training.
Under 7s & 8s Fixtures Against Minehead - Sunday 18th December 2011
Due to the Under 7s / 8s Coaches not being available this weekend the Under 7s and Under 8s fixtures against Minehead have been regrettably cancelled.
GAMES FOR FITNESS
There will be 'Games for Fitness' sessions every Sunday morning for all Junior members from U15's downwards. Sessions will run between 10:00 & 11:30 and the emphasis of the sessions is on fun and fitness. The sessions will be run by Simon Freeman and Lloyd Williams. Under 13s v Old Halesonians
On Saturday 16th April North Petherton Under 13s will be hosting Old Halesonians who are touring the area over the weekend. The game will commence at 1:15 PM acting as a curtain raiser for the 1st XV's final game of the season against Okehampton.
Refreshments will be available both in the main Clubhouse and in the "Beer Shack" next to the stand on pitchside. So come on down and give both teams plenty of support.

Under 11s Training
With effect from Wednesday 12th January 2011, training will take place for the Under 11s on Wednesday nights between 18:30 and 20:00. All players are strongly encouraged to make every effort to attend these sessions.
