Pethy faced Wellington without the influential Ty Harris at No.8 and fly-half Tom Popham, and with Wellington fielding nine under 16's, it was always going to be an uphill struggle.
In the first half Petherton played down the slope and played really well before scoring the first try through Sam Mularchz. At half time the home side led 5-3 after Wellington responded with a drop goal.
In the second half Wellington scored first with a converted try to take the lead. The age difference began to take its toll and the lads started to tire with all the defending they were doing, and eventually Wellington scored an unconverted try.
The boys can come away from this game with great deal of credit, and if they were at full-strength, Pethy felt that they would have been able to push Wellington even closer.
