Under 15s extend winning run

15/10/06 - Under 15s Match: Burnham-On-Sea 12 v 36 North Petherton

Report by Andy Skinner

We traveled to Burnham with fourteen players due to one reason or another, which meant borrowing a player from Burnham, who as you would expect gave us the smallest lad they had, who was actually only 13!

Pethy played the 1st half with the wind at their back. Early pressure resulted in Phil Prince scoring in the corner, and Tom Popham missing a difficult kick. But Burnham battled back and after a driving maul they scored under the sticks, which they converted.

Pethy regrouped and it wasn't long before Tom Popham put Pethy in the lead again, closely followed by tries from prop Conner Potter and hooker James Popham. By now the Burnham lads were starting to tire with all the defending they were doing, and at half-time the score was 24-7 to Petherton.

In the second half Burnham fought back, eventually scoring again, but missing the conversion.
Second row Chris Lewis had to switch position to wing because of back problems (which turned out to be a strained Trapezius muscle). Some good inter-play and passing got Tom Popham his second try, which he successfully converted. Finally to wrap things up, newly appointed winger Chris Lewis touched down.

So all in all, it was a solid performance away from home by the lads.
