An outstanding first half performance by Pethy Under 15s, in which they outscored their opponents by three tries to one, laid the foundation for a second successive victory.
First on the score sheet was 2nd row Chris Lewis who touched down in the corner after several phases of play that eventually led to Ivel running out of defenders. Ty Harris was next, barging over from five yards out, followed by scrum-half Myles Skinner who picked up the ball from the base of a ruck, dummy passed and dived over under the sticks.
The second half started with Pethy playing with the wind on their backs and down the slope. Early on, things resumed as normal with George Bailey scoring a good wingers try in then out, and Ty Harris breaking away to touch down under the posts.
But Ivel started to make a comeback and scored a couple of tries. This lifted them and they started to believe that they could go on and win. An injury to 'Dobbsy' meant that No.8 Ty Harris had to switch to playing outside centre, which didn't help matters. However, in the end the lads held on. I don't know whether it was a fitness thing or that we eased up, but I think that we need to be a bit more ruthless in finishing games off.
