NPRFC - Under 14s vs Wells

North Petherton Under-13s and Under-14s have had a rocky start to the season, with low numbers forcing the two age groups to amalgamate. Many of the players have responded well and have gone from strength to strength, showing commitment to both team and club.

Their improvement in performance has been reflected in the scorelines since October 29 when they lost 63-0 away to a strong, well disciplined Wellington side. A change in tactics proved to be a good strategy when they played at home to Minehead, and although they lost again, the scoreline was much closer at 24-5.

By November 12, following some well-focused training sessions, they put up a good fight away to Weston, losing narrowly by 29-20. On the 19th, Pethy played an excellent Wiveliscombe side, and once again the margin of defeat reduced, this time to 22-15.

On Sunday, Wells descended upon Beggars Brook with a well-drilled side who were not prepared to accept defeat. With players in new positions, Pethy started out on the back foot but kept their heads up after conceding the first try of the match.

They dug deep and struggled to adapt to their new positions as Wells scored a second try. An exiting match then followed as Pethy eventually came back to establish a lead, before Wells battled right to the final whistle to draw level and secure a well-deserved 22-22 draw.

The coaching team would like to say well done to all of the players involved and are already looking forward to the first match in the new year on the 14th of January against Bridgwater.
