Dominant second-half secures good win

18/10/08 - Colts Friendly: North Petherton 24 v 12 Newton Abbott

Report from the Bridgwater Mercury

Pethy had another good win on Saturday, despite starting slowly, and letting in a soft try within the first ten minutes, which was converted.

This suddenly woke them up and they quickly pulled back a try, making it 5-7. Some excellent rugby followed with both teams putting in some really hard tackles and putting together some brilliant attacking moves, making this an exciting game to watch.

Newton Abbott managed to score another try just before half-time, making the score 12-5 to them. However, this did not fase Petherton and they came out in the second half determined to turn things around.

They then dominated the half and ran in three tries, converting two of them. Pethy took a blow when captain Dan Winn went off with a shoulder injury which looks set to keep him out of action for a number of weeks.

Scorers: Tries — Ashley Palmer (2), Toby Harris, Sam Butler. Conversions — Dan Pearce.
