When only seven Petherton players turned up for this home match on Saturday, Burnham lent them two and the teams played 12 against nine. The result was a thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable game.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, the home side had built up a 25-6 lead by half time. Then former Bridgwater & Albion player John Biddiscombe, who had been at fly-half for Pethy, had to leave and Burnham lent them another player, making it 11 against nine.
In the second half, the visitors tightened their game up and it was 31-all until two minutes from time when Steve Gallagher went over for the sixth Pethy try, converted by Cameron Kirk.
Other home try-scorers were Biddiscombe, Luke Williams, Steve Woods (2) and Sean Jones. Biddiscombe converted three.
Burnham veteran Pete Gaylard was outstanding for Petherton, who also borrowed Neil Streeter.
