27th March 2010 - Tribute Somerset Two South:

Castle Cary 19 v 5 North Petherton II

Report by Ben Williams

Petherton took on a strong Cary side for their last away game of the season, but started off well playing down the slope.

There was no score in the game until the 20th minute, when fly half Roberts missed what was for him a relatvely simple penalty chance. However from the resulting 22m re-start Petherton's forwards gathered the ball and made inroads back into Cary's 22, being held up short of the line. After a couple of pick and go's by the forwards, scrum half Samuel Tozer spotted a gap in Cary's defence and was over like a whippet! The conversion was missed. That was the only score of the half and really Petherton should have added to it.

The second half went Cary's way playing down the slope and now with a strong wind behind them. They scored three quick tries with two being converted giving them a 19-5 victory. Petherton did still play well and could've scored themselves.

With one game to go Petherton will look to finish their season with a win over Minehead seconds on the 10 April.

Next week the seconds host Taunton 3rd's in the annual Caroline Mitchell Memorial Cup on Good Friday with a 2.30pm kick off.
