Depleted Petherton Seconds found a very experienced and physical home team too strong for them in this top-of-the-table clash at Midsomer Norton on Saturday.
Although they scored first through centre Lloyd Steward, who converted his own try, the visitors lost prop Rob Keirle when a stray Norton elbow gave a him a nosebleed that wouldn't stop.
Then another prop Paul, a player brought along by Pethy veteran Clarence Clatworthy, hurt his back and with Keirle not allowed back on by the referee, it was uncontested scrums from before half time.
The home side, who consisted almost entirely of veteran former first-teamers, led 19-7 at the interval and showed why they are top of the table. But they were lucky to get away with some of their over-physical play, just one yellow card being shown, for backchat.
Petherton's only score in the second half was a try by full-back Archie Walford, also converted by Lloyd Steward.
