Seconds outclassed by league leaders

14/10/06 - Somerset Three South: North Petherton II 6 v 66 Bridgwater & Albion III

Report from the Bridgwater Mercury

League leaders Albion dominated the game throughout and ran out comfortable winners against Petherton's Second string.

Karl Stuckes opened the scoring with a try inside the first five minutes for the visitor's, with further tries from centre Dean Cheffy, skipper Dave Norman, and Barry Hobbs, which were all converted by Dave Andison, who also knocked over a penalty.

Bridgwater led 31-3 at the interval with Petherton's only bright note being a penalty.

It was much the same in the second half as Bridgwater marched onto an impressive victory. Tries were added by Rob Taylor, full-back Jon Frost, Colin Leigh (2), and another from Dean Cheffy. Once again Andison had his kicking boots on for the conversions as Albion stormed home.

Duncan Page-Symonds and his second-row partner Russ Worgan were particularly impressive, as were props Nick Ball and Damien Marsh. Once again the team was led well by Dave Norman.

Petherton lost a player through injury and with no replacement were lent Albion player Alistair Campbell who had a good game at full-back. Mark Sutherland-Earl scored both penalties for Petherton on an afternoon to forget.
