The youthful pace and energy of Wells Seconds proved too much for their older Petherton counterparts in their first Somerset Three league match. Late player withdrawals weakened the visitors, who were not able to cope out wide with the fast Wells backs.
However, the Petherton front row of Jaime Jennings, Rob Kearle, and John Webber dominated their opposite numbers and gave the visitors some respite in the scrums and lineouts. Another positive was the contribution of former colt Luke Carrow, who impressed on the wing. However, Petherton were never able to get going and will need to show a big improvement in their forthcoming league matches.
