Despite having started and finished with only 13 men and having played one short throughout, Petherton Seconds still felt that this was a match they should have won.
Their seven man pack was outstanding, out-scrummaging the home side's eight for most of the game before eventually running out of steam late in the game. With Mike Coles and Kev Grey typically outstanding in the back row, Pethy led 14-5 at the interval, and were only 22-19 down when they lost full-back Jason Sturgess with a neck injury.
The home side took advantage of this to run in two more tries in the last ten minutes. The Petherton try-scorers were fly-half Mark Sutherland-Earl, Sturgess, and Prop Jamie Jennings. Sutherland-Earl also landed two conversions.
