Report from the Bridgwater Mercury (sport@bridgwatermercury.co.uk)

Winscombe's big, fast side were far too strong for Petherton at Beggars Brook on Saturday, although Petherton were able to stem the tide somewhat in the second half and make their opponents work hard for their points.

Winscombe needed to bolster their points difference at the top of the merit table, and ran everything for the whole 80 minutes, moving Petherton's older and slower pack all over the park, and playing with good width, they always had a man in support of the ball carrier.

Despite being overwhelmed out wide, teenage wing Bradley Archer and flanker Keith Robinson, who moved out to the centre after half-time, still made a number of excellent tackles preventing an even larger scoreline.

Mike Coles was again a colossus in the pack, and the whole side battled to the end, but never really looked like scoring.
