After last weeks great win over Kingsbridge, the need to avoid taking it too easy against a relegation threatened Minehead side was paramount. This didn't look like being a problem in the first 30 minutes as Pethy raced into a 15-0 lead. Three tries all scored in the bottom corner of Minehead's slopping pitch.
The first try was set up by a great forward break, then quick ball along the back line led to Matt Foad flopping over in the corner.
The next two tries were both forwards tries, the first a trademark 2 meter burst from Matt Angel. The second a pick up from a scrum from no.8 Matt Brown, finished in the corner with defenders hanging off him. All going to plan so far !
Next two Minehead players clashed heads when trying to tackle a Pethy player. Both stricken players needed hospital treatment. One taken by road, the other by Devon Air Ambulance.
After a 50 minute break in play, the match resumed. No more score was added by Pethy and Minehead managed a consolation try. The break in play seeming to hinder Pethy more than the home team.
Best wishes go out to both Minehead players. Pethy received word that both players have been released from hospital, hopefully to a quick recovery. The Pethy players would like to thank their traveling supporters, who were vocal throughout the match.
Next weekend Pethy are at home to Newquay, hoping for a large crowd as it is their Old Boys Reunion Day.
